I'm sure this thread has been done to death but haven't found anything in the search of late. So thought we'd give it a go at listing our faves. My faves (from top) are:
01. Age of Empires II - sure, there have been sequels, but I find that this RTS instalment never dies! Played it constantly from Win 95 to Win 7 over 13 years.
02. World of Warcraft - great game in the sense that I've met new friends, met for real and still meet up with them. I was totally addicted from late 2005 until the first expansion, then weaned off and eventually gave up. However, I'll always thank Blizz for permanent friends that I've met through it.
03. Final Fantasy 7 - bit of a non-brainer to include FF7 only in my 10. FF8 wasn't such a strong or as involving storyline and Squaresoft didn't port any more FF's to the PC.
04. Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 - I like fairgrounds and themeparks, so this one comes in naturally for me, and I like games where you have to build stuff. You can see POV (like you're sitting on the front seat) on coasters that you build.
05. The Sims 3 - another game where you have to build stuff, plus I love the level of detail that you get in character design. The original Sims 1 game comes in close after Sims 3 mainly because it was a new idea at the time and I adored the Latin music. Sims 2, seemed to be the favourite of the series amongst fans, but for some reason I didn't got on with it. I think it was because I liked modding and didn't find as much content for Sims 2 as I did for 1 or 3.
06. American McGee's Alice - ground-breaking graphics at the time, back in the Voodoo 4 days. Fairly psychological i.e. suspense and surprises. Soundtrack from Nine Inch Nails added to the atmosphere. Great game if you like Harry Potteresque 3D platformers.
07. Warblade - shareware PC version of classic arcade game Galaga with brushed up DirectX sprites. 25 levels for unregistered, 100 levels for registered. Best thing about Warblade are the secrets that you can uncover (bit like finding Easter Eggs in software).
08. Worms World Party - for lovers of Scorched Earth-type tanks games. The tanks are replaced by worm characters with silly voices and overly-powerful weapons.
09. Bejewelled 3 - another shareware game, along the lines of Sega Columns where you match blocks of the same colour. I picked BJ3 because it has the most gameplay variations.
10. Star Wars Galaxy - I only played the demo, but I thought that character design was ground-breaking, almost as good as Sims 3 and both way ahead of WoW for graphics and character styling options.
As you guys can tell, I've never been an FPS person
I will give credit to Halo though but that was on the Xbox.

I'll need to think about this!
