been trialling adwords this week and i'm not sure what to think of it.

i'm trying to get to grips with it all but from what i can tell we have had 11 clicks which average at £0.60p ish, but we have been charged £12 so far since the tuesday just gone.

i'm trying to see how the clickers used the site but analytics doesn't seem to be showing anything from paid for traffic sources.

any suggestions on how to improve the use of adwords? we are trialing this for a month but so far it seems money is going on nothing but just a few people clicking.

Have you generated the analytics from the adwords login? I would advise creating the analytics from the adwords login.

Have you enabled sharing of information between google products in the settings? If you don't you will not get PPC information.

Have you researched your long and short tail keyphrases?

Have you turned content network off? If not, do so.

Have you avoided using really generic keywords. I have seen some awful howlers in my time.

For example a scandavian retailer of wooden furniture (not ikea) had the keywords

scandavia
wooden
furniture
sale
quality

all on broad match.

Not to mention their quality score was shocking.

Very nice website though, I was looking at this the other day...

I understand you cannot offer your services on here, shame. All I can say is check my free advice out. What you are asking for, well, people charge for it.

Use the traffic estimator. (With a pinch of salt)
Likewise the keyword suggestion tool (which, unfortunately has gone really awful lately)

Make sure the content in your landing page matches the content in your ad.

(Damn, I giving away more free information)

That's all matey. Sorry.

wow i really appreciate the help, thank you for all the great advice. i have made any changes that i can straight away e.g. linking adwords with analytics, and made a note to look into things like the short tail keyphrases later tonight as i have no clue what these are.

thanks again
