Youtube does video stabilisation

Just came across this. YouTube will now perform full video stabilisation. You upload it and it's processed in the cloud, ready to use later. The results are pretty impressive to my eyes.

Can anyone recommend any home software which compares with this?

I believe the latest version of iMovie is meant to do stabilisation fairly well. Haven't tested it myself, skipped straight to final cut express...

It does seem to severely crop the video and looks a bit odd.

It has to crop the image to be able do it's job

I don't like it, it makes it look odd. it's hard to explain exactly what I mean but it makes me think of Fight club when things move around in a 3d fashion.
