YouTube Downloads & Video/Audio Converters & Screen Shots

For downloading videos from YouTube I use Downie and if I need to do any converting, I now use Permute. The software I used before that stopped working a while back and doesn't appear to be supported any more. Downie and Permute are by the same person and Downie can transfer to Permute as part of the download process.

For screenshots, I just use the extensive built in screenshot features of macOS. You can capture entire screens, windows, sections and even video just with the OS. In over ten years, I've not needed anything else.

Great stuff. on the screenshots. I'll have to look at the others. I'm writing on the PC so will give a few things a try on the MACBook Pro. I got it 2nd hand so going to attempt at doing a complete cleaning of the drives completely and doing a full system recovery if i can do one. so that i will have my Mac as pure as pure can be.

If you can point me in the right direction as i am a bit of a numpty. Looked at some video's but seems a bit confusing.
Cheers

You want to do a complete reset of a MacBook Pro, erase everything and put it all back to shiny new?

Easy.

Shut it down.

Hold down Option-Command-R and reboot it. This will take you through and install the latest version of macOS that your computer can support. You'll need an internet connection and it can take a while to complete as it has to suck it all down from Apple.

Will give that a go. What i have read is about the same but glad someone with some expertise on Mac's Seals the deal........ Thanks. Next is to create a bootable USB Stick will give that a look too.
Any idea as to what size USB Stick I may require as I guess I will have to format it in MAC?

Any other software you can recommend??

Are you planning on making a bootable USB stick with macOS? Grab Diskmaker X 9 (for Catalina) and it'll do it all for you. It wants a 16Gb USB stick but I can't vouch for this as I've never tried it.

I've never used this method because I prefer to do it manually and and Apple post a guide here.

/edit - I've just tested the manual method as it's been a while since I created a bootable stick and it works perfectly.

By the way, it's not 'MAC', it's never 'MAC' as it's not an acronym, it's just "Mac" ;)
