I guess this is the right place to put this.

YouTube King Of Random Grant Thompson has died in a paragliding accident. Sad news, I loved his random, science/tech videos(a bit like a YouTube version of braniac). He had taken a bit of a back seat as of late as he was struggling with the content, editing, promoting, scheduling etc and another guy was hosting the show.

Only 38 and I seem to remember him having his wife and kids in some of the videos :(

RIP

Seemed like a ******* to me after watching him throw liquid nitrogen in his face 3 times. No matter how "safe" it is to do.

Sad that he leaves behind a wife and kids. Accidents gonna accident.

Seem to have been a few YouTuber deaths lately one of the channels I watch now and again one of the regulars died in an ATV accident couple of weeks ago and there have been others. Several recent ones have involved recreational vehicles oddly.

One of the larger YouTube channels tbh, with over 11 million subscribers. As his name suggests, he just made videos about random things, including science experiments and stuff. Always seemed like a cool guy.

RIP

I literary spend half my internet time on YouTube and I have not come across a single video of his, and I love VSauce!

Some of you may not have heard of him due to the biasis of YouTube's algorithm which favours trending traditional media over home grown channels like this one.

There's quite a few musicians, actors, politicians, and sports people who die that I've never heard of ... but my instant response is not usually "WHO?! Why should I care?".

I just so happen to be one of the 11 million that was subscribed so this is relevant to me, even more so in that I've been wanting to take up paragliding for a little while so I'm just as interested in how it happened. Poor weather, location choice, too high end a wing, lack of training?

Someone watches offtheranch too it seems!

Have watched this guy since not long after he started YouTube. One of the original people I subscribed to, along with MKBHD, Linus, RWJ and some others.

Can't flipping believe this, came as a complete shock. Really nice chap from the (relatively) little I saw of him. Not offensive in any way, not involved politically and generally easy to watch videos.

Wish his family all the best
