youtube locks up pc ?

my son is having issues with youtube,a lot of the time when he uses it the pc will freeze and hardlock after a few minutes,it only seems to happen on that site tho, he can play games like cod and bf2 for hours without issues

it seems very specific to youtube,would could cause these lockups ?

spec:

A64 venice 2.3ghz
1.5gb DDR ram
ATI 4890
asrock dual sata2 mobo
win xp home
 
Flash plugin troubles? Could try reinstalling it and see if it makes a difference. Which browser is he using to view Youtube?
 
hes currently using the latest version of firefox,but if i remember rightly its happened with other versions of FF too,maybe i should uninstal it and have him use IE instead ?
 
Before giving IE a try I'd recommend Opera or Chrome... IE has gone a long way, but it's still not a patch on any of those browsers.

Flash on my computer makes the fan spin like crazy and can lead to overheating issues (including the odd system shutdown in summer), but the games your son plays are much more graphics-intensive, so if the problem had anything to do with overheating, it should happen too when he's gaming. The first thing I'd do would be to try and play some browser-based Flash games for a while and see what happens. If the computer locks down the same way it does with YouTube, it's clearly a Flash/browser problem. If not, it's goblins. Easy! :D
