It's extremely frustrating how you can't easily use YouTube or YouTube kids on a Kindle.

I've got the crappy basic version of YouTube which Amazon allow you to install but when I try and log into a kids account (family link) it says "sorry you can't access youtube mobile web with your account"
I want to log in to try and avoid the ads showing which my youngest has a habit of clicking.

Alternatively I would prefer to just use YouTube kids but it doesn't seem like you can share it to the kids profile after sideloading.

Anyone else worked around this? Or know why kids YouTube accounts don't seem to work? Mine loads fine.

No I never found a workaround. There's third party apps on the kids store but they're not amazing. In the end I downloaded the videos watched frequently and put them into Emby which works well. She manages to get on ok with the third party apps too though. I have pfBlockerNG doing network ad blocking which is probably blocking the ads on there anyway.

Ended up changing the kids profiles age, so they appear as adult profiles which I then turned safe search on for and restricted viewing in YouTube. This seems to work without the issue above happening on the kindle fire.
