Not much discussion on these that I have seen so thought id start a topic to see what people thought.
Now obviously there are a lot of them out there and this isnt really about ones like DigitalRev which is more about the 'team' and reviews than the actual photographer in question but iv noticed that the actual decent photographers (apart from say Chase) with good history tend to have very little views compared to those with cack work, zero credibility in the photography world.

I guess the exception would be Froknows'Contrast'Photo , whos had a bit of history even though hes lost his way on Youtube nowadays but racks up views like no tomorrow.

but yeh, does it make you annoyed that people like Snapchick, DomBrower can talk such drival and get away with it?

What do people think about Art of the Image - he seems like a likable guy but has he ever taken a photo in his life? :p

I guess i'm posting this out there because I don't necessarily mind the youtubers that treat it like a bit of fun doing reviews in their spare time after photographing their kids etc (Dave Dugdale for example) and its nice to have that lighthearted element in the scene but its just the ones that make a living from it with zero substance behind them that makes me wonder how they get away with it, I dont see how people can learn from them if its personality/boobs over skill. :(

There is decent stuff out there as well.

Most of the Adorama TV stuff is good.

There's some good stuff on Kelby TV (although it can be a bit like an infomercial for their paid services at times).

Boobs? Just for erm educational purposes so I can more fully understand your viewpoint on this matter, I require linkage!

Art of the Image copies and pastes the spec sheet of cameras and reads them out on a video.

He doesn't seem to have an opinion of his own.

Well I think iamtheoneneo was somewhat referring to Snapchick as one such example:
http://www.youtube.com/user/TheSnapChick/videos?flow=list&view=0

She obviously makes her living as ProTog, but her videos mostly seem unnatural and overacted, really just designed to be about her and making money from herself, rather than about Photography or her work. She always seems to have videos that are about her signing 8x10s which she then sells. The photographs of which are her posing suggestively, but aren't self-portraits, so somebody else shoots them, but she doesn't appear to say anything about them. Presumably she has lots of fans, I can't see what the appeal is, I presume perhaps some people just have a thing about a girl who is moderately hot who is into photography?

As you say, Jared Polin (FroKnowsPhoto) is watchable, but my trouble with him is that he just has too many videos half the time and I can't be bothered to watch them all. He does like to talk and sometimes just blabbers on to much.

Other than that, I watch Adorama and Gavin Hoey.
DigitalRev is probably the only Channel I always watch every video though, as they are always entertaining.

Not sure I look at too much else, other than when trying to find reviews or demos. Any good suggestions?

AdoramaTV is probably the best I've seen for technical info and how-to videos.

Jared Polin is all about making money, I think I found a couple of his videos helpful when I first got into it, then it became too much of 'I have a new tshirt for sale on the store in a slightly different colour'. To be fair though, if I could make money from youtube, I would and his D600 review wasnt too bad, except he kept saying how different it was from a D4 but also that he wasnt comparing it to a D4.

ThecamerastoreTV are quite good and comprehenisve for gear reviews.

This was the best D800 vs 5D3 review I saw, pity they dont make videos that often though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfA2mTMt0u8&feature=youtu.be&hd=1 :)

I subscribe to Froknowsphoto, Greg Cazzilo (sp) and DigitalRev. I dip in and out of Adorama for specific stuff and I've just started watching some of Karl Taylors stuff.

I do watch Dom Bowers stuff - I know a lot of it is drivel but you have to take some stuff with a pinch of salt.

I agree with that, though sometimes I think some of the selling of stuff is a bit questionable. He was in the UK a few weeks ago and ran a couple of workshops which were quite pricey. However it seemed odd to me that he was running a lighting workshop when just a while back I remember him first learning about studio lighting as he had never even used it. Further to that, I saw on Twitter that after arriving in the UK he was putting out pleas for equipment and advice, think that's a bit rubbish for somebody who has paid a lot of money for a workshop and its not been planned properly.
