It would be good to get some actual figures on the YouTube business model..
YouTube is there to make money yes?
They do this by selling advertising space within the videos that people want to watch.. but the amount of money they make from a single person watching a single 5 second advert (before they skip) must be miniscule..
So even if a person watched nothing but YouTube, and watched say 100-200 5 second adverts a day on there.. how much does YouTube make off that person?
For YouTube to make more money from people then they need to charge more for premium, than they would make of those people watching the adverts they would have watched?!?!
Depending on the figures above, I guess for people who do pretty much nothing but watch YouTube, then premium is a bad deal for YouTube, but for casual viewers it's a good deal for YouTube.
Would be interesting to actually know the figures..
