YouTube Premium

Was going to do the Lite version but no background play is quite annoying.

My VPN doesn't even seem to be getting me to the page to sign up any longer. I think I'm finally going to have to pay full price

Portugal worked. So I'll try and get a few months out of that first

They have finally caught up to me and cancelled my Turkish premium after about 3 years. I solely use SmartTube though so I'm going to wait until my subscription ends in a day or two and see how bad the adverts are through the app.

Is anyone else interested in creating an OcUK family account and spreading the cost?

I’ve no idea if this is against the rules but thought I’d ask as it’s obviously getting harder and harder to get a “fair” price for premium

@antijoke lots of us are on OCUK family accounts (and I am one of them  )
just set up a family account and advertise on the MM...it'll get snapped up quickly
you cannot profiteer though, so you have to split the cost 6-ways equally, works out to be £40/yr per account, most of the creators will collect the £40 up front and pro-rate the refund should someone leave the group before the year is up

Just something to be aware of, they are slowly closing that loophole as well as technically you all need to be in the same household. I had my membership "paused" as I couldn't prove I was living with the family admin.

Oh for real? They’re going the Netflix route?

All of them are at it now.

The days of cheap subs are coming to a close. Unless something else comes along and disrupts the market.

Problem is, once they do after a few years they end up tightening up on the same restrictions.

Can the "single household" just be fixed by a bit of VPNing to a single network?
I'd expect so - potentially even just an occasional login at the "home" address from each account would do the trick, since they'd typically see logins from multiple IPs through standard usage anyway.

Hopefully I can get a lower rate when we emigrate in March, wonder if I may have issues convincing them I'm no longer UK based

I have a cheap YouTube subscription using the Apple Turkey cheat.

That said, I use SmartTube for 99% of my watching (Nvidia Shield connected to telly) and I couldn't go back now. Beyond removing ads for those without a subscription, the sponsor block has become essential.

I had a 12 month indian subscription from a gaming site, bought it in August, was working fine till last night :-(
I've noticed that some of these are actually being paid for monthly. Whether YT is clamping down on the plan owner and shutting it down, or whether the people selling these are just letting them lapse to increase their profit, I'm not sure.

I complained on one and got it extended for a few more months, but now I'm just going without any sub at all for a bit until this stuff settles a bit.
