was just wondering how come youtube doesn't seem to have moderators to deal with totally racist and offensive comments.

how hard can it be to have a RTM system on there? ?

or am i missing something? like they want to keep freedom of speech

lol...

Do you realise how much work that'd create? They'd need thousands of moderators.

They've already got a system whereby comments with a negative rating can be automatically hidden. That will do.

I think there must be a comment along the lines of "Dirty n****** must die!" for every single video on youtube, no matter what the video is.

There was a comment on the Chocolate Rain vid, (albeit a tad racist so I won't post it here), which actually made me laugh. Agreed though, most of the comments are rubbish and pointless reading.

EDIT: May as well post it.

Chocolate raaaaaaaaain - Tay Zongay makes a song thats really lame

Chocolate raaaaaaaaaain - N*****Tube is making me insane

Chocolate raaaaaaaaaaain - You're face is making me feel pain.

Chocolate raaaaaaaaaain - My eyes are starting to feel the strain

Chocolate raaaaaaaain - Be like other n****** and pimp girls with your cane

I don't even know why they bother with comments, all I ever see on it is racist remarks and lame arguing and always something along the lines of "LOL FAKE".

Give someone anyonymity and they'll say some nasty stuff - 4chan is testament to that. I wouldn't even be certain if half of the stuff said in those comments is actual racism, just people saying stuff they know is taboo because the internet masks their identity. What might be more worrying is that racial slurs are losing their literal meaning - like the f-word has etc, just going to show how widespread it's use is. It just becomes another insult at the end of the day with no real conotation apart from the fact it is considered an insult.

They are comments of peoples content, not YouTube therefore they don't have to or need to moderate them.

Though I am surprised they don't have a filter.

I stopped reading youtube comments ages ago, I'd happily start again if anyone slinging profanity was permabanned from it. Should help to reduce the abusive users

Aye, 'tis one of the less desirable aspects of the internet, in my view. Places like Youtube give an almost international mouthpiece to more insufferable and less developed members of society. One doesn’t need education, style, wit or panache to write something that a lot of people will read, just a computer. Just don't bother reading them is the advice I'd give.
