anyone on virgin getting super slow speeds with virgin, in that a 4 minutes video can take 30ish minutes to load. this started a few weeks back and saw a post saying virgin doing some work or something and thats why but not its been a while and still getting super slow connection that means i can't watch youtube at all.

Im not really getting it for any other places, like maybe emails is slightly slower to open, i coudln't connect to ocuk last night, but other then thats its all pretty usual.

Maybe you have been capped...I had this with Eclipse... I somehow used up my 50gb limit overnight... (yet to get a response back from them on this) and spent 1 month with download speeds at a whopping 20kbps...

I dont see how they get away with capping services which aren't exactly top-notch speeds in the first place! Broadband companies in the UK Bully their customers and offer substandard products in comparison to other ISP's in other countries.

I get exactly the same problem when I connect, and before I've done anything else, so I'm pretty sure it's not the capping. Not if they're sticking to the limits agreed.

I think the main problem about the products we receive is that we don't have the correct infrastructure set up in this country to have much faster internet connections than we already have.

Thank BT!

I have the same problem with YT (using a virgin connection). I've had the problem for a while, if I use a laptop wirelessly connected to next doors adsl the same video will load way quicker :(.

i've not noticed it being much slower than normal, although at times it can be extremely slow (and some tests when i've noticed that have tended to show my connection is pretty fast from other sources).

it's not BTs (wholesale) fault (not be to confused with BT retail - terrible isp). thank the shoddy isp.

loads of isps run over BT's network and provide a great service.

i use firefox and i have experienced this in the last few months , but recently i have been trying I.E and i have not had the same experiences. seems to be working fine for me using I,E for you tube

virgin are traffic shaping youtube to dial up speeds
been like this for over a month now ive complained a few times
but they say theres no problem but will look into it.

Y'know, I hadn't realised it until I read this thread-I don't do a lot of YT-but it has happened to me too.

I was putting it down to 3 PCs sharing the connection but that shouldn't be an issue on 20Mb outside of STM should it?
