Sometimes I visit YouTube to watch the news or interesting short documentary type films and I scroll down to the comments to see people's opinions on the video.

Now, everytime, it always turns into a Britain vs America war. The video could be something so stupid like 'How to fold a t-shirt' and this is how it will go;

'Oh my god, Japanese girls are so good at this. We need more of them here in the US'

'You moron, you already have Japanese girls'

'Shut up and get back in your hole, or I'll put you in one'

'Get back to destroying innocent countries'

'OMG..WTF1123! You wouldn't be here if it weren't for us in WWII'

... and on it goes, to become 20 pages of the UK vs the US.

Has anyone else noticed this? I actually think it's quite hilarious as some people post and say the most stupid things.

Conversation normally flows around and includes war, the moon landing, Area 51, empires, illegal wars, politics, race in politics, womens breasts (random), grammar and food.

I mean, it's so pointless, pathetic and saddening that developed nations feel the need to say these things to eachother, but it's also highly entertaining.

Or maybe I just seem to view the videos that happen to have such comments. Anyone else noticed?

It's exactly what happens on the IMDB boards too... A thread about a film actor, for example, turns into a massive row between 2 countries.

Had to laugh though when a friend was browsing the Braveheart board on IMDB found an amusing thread. An American, quite seriously, asked if Scotland was like Middle Earth and made up for films.

Yeh, the US don't care or know much about Britain really. Can't say it's wrong though, it's just a fact. :)

I always hoped our history had more of an impact on people all over the world, but it really doesn't.

I have an American friend here who's asked me 'Do you have McDonalds in the UK?' and, the best of all 'Can everyone go to school, or are a lot of you uneducated?'. This guy has an economics degree and, despite these questions, he's actually very intelligent. Even if he is ignorant of the rest of the world.

Amazing isn't it!?

When I was in Florida a few years ago we got talking to this American family. It didn't matter how many times we told them that England was a separate country - they still thought we were from New England.

Haha, this American friend of mine is from Florida.

Maybe it's just the Floridanianese, or something. I dunno. Florida is a province of Canada right? :p
