You've got one choice. Which one?

You have to live there so you cant just choose the most expensive and sell it. This would be your home for the rest of your life. As a side note, number 3 is a great investment as you could charge film and TV companies an absolute bomb to film there.

My choice is number 7. A moat round your house would be awesome ;)

Take your time.

Poor selection.

This is much better.

A good size, near London with good transport links, so you don't get bored.

If I had to slum it with one of the 8 your moat one would probably be the best as long as it had fish in it.

Nice but no character. Looks like a millionaire has just plonked down his dream house plans and had it built. Those properties are ten a penny around the UK. Many of the houses I linked have history and character.

I'd take the one in East Sussex purely cos its close to everyone I know.

If I could move it, I'd take #1 in a heartbeat however. :)

Don't like that at all. I think there is such a thing as "too big", and it has zero character. Looks very American too!

Isn't that the house Tom Cruise formerly owned or something? so literally as you describe.

EDIT: Nope looks similar but Tom's was in West Sussex.

I'm sure there are 1m+ houses in the UK with history and character, but I wouldn't call them dream houses. :)

Also, £12m and no pool, gym, cinema room, bar. Houses that expensive should have a few luxuries like that provided. And what if you don't like golf? That's a waste of acres and acres.

Well if I could justify a 12 million pound house presumably I'd still have a good few million still tucked away, so the golf course would become... Private track! :D
