As a lot of you know i run my van and Lister on used veg oil. I get it for free, but it needs filtering.
Today I fitted a fresh set of filters to my cartridge setup. Gone from 2 cartridges to 4, meaning i can lose my very slow 200micron filter bag stage from my WVO setup.
I filled the top tub with manky oil and set it running, absoluely blasted the oil through, wahey!
Of course, being a tit i forgot that the extra filters are adding extra back pressure on the pump, and i've got it fitted like this ..
Imagine being stood infront of that when the 13mm hose is pushed off the outlet barb and the pump fires the oil straight at you at lots of litres per minute, not forgetting that it's a 1" inlet, pumped, then reduced down to 1/2" on the outlet, so the pressure wasn't too high .....
Got a "bit" of oil on me, once i pulled the plug the oil just ran out like an open tap (mavity fed from a full 30L tub) big puddle on the workbench, managed to stuff the hose back on and stop the flood. I do however have oil on the opposite wall of my shed (8' away!)
Now if you'll excuse me i need another shower, i smell nearly as bad as when i manged to dump a load of gearbox oil in my hair. (don't ask)
So, todays lesson is, hose clips are sold next to the hose FOR A REASON!
