Z-5500 not work with normal mobo?

Now before you say anything, YES I am am getting a sound card, I just can't get it for another week or 2.


But I'm a complete newbie at setting up speakers. My current mobo is the nvidia nForce 680i. I knew the speakers wouldn't work to their maximum potential, but I thought they would actually work somewhat..

I'm 99% sure I've connected everything correctly, but it just doesn't work at all.. well, I had a brief 5 minutes where sound was coming out of my front right speaker.

I done a speaker test where it outputs sound from each one of my speakers, and every sound just came from my front right speaker.


So, what the deal? Do I have to wait for my sound card or have I just connected it wrong?

You've either connected it wrong or got faulty speakers. Try another audio source (switch it to one jack mode on the back and plug an mp3 player in or something). If you don't get proper sound from that, RMA them now.

double check all the connections on the sub, and the volume thing

flick the switch to 6ch mode, and check the connections on your motherboard

then in windows, set it to 5.1ch mode in control panel/speakers

keep pressing the input button on the volume thing, until it says 6ch direct
