so like I went into my local video game store the other day cash in hand... I asked the young worker for some assistance, I told him what I wanted.

"1 x Next gen console, with 2 controlers ofcourse, ( must be wireless!) I just hate leads all over the place, but I also needed to play these while they charge ofcourse. oh and everything needs to be official branded stuff, im touchy about that, no 3rd party rip offs and that. I need to connect to the net, but wirlessly , the position of my games console dictates that. Also what I really want is a high definition media player. i just love my movies ya know. package that with a game I can play online and im sorted! "

So the gentlemen comes back to me with an Xbox360(£199), 2 additional wireless controlers (with a play and charge kit)(£70 total) an xbox wireless bridge so i can go online (£50)and a HD dvd player (£130), game (£40) and tells me ill have to pay to play online. grand total ...

£489 + monthly subscription.!!

Blimey! I say ... thats a lot for something thats been out a year already. Is it really worth that much ??

He thinks for a while and offers me an alternative...

"try this sir out in a few weeks... you get pretty much all the same stuff that you want for £465 (£20 cheaper) and you will save space as everything you need is built in. you will also be getting yourself a far bigger harddrive, 60GB and a more powerfull machine that really is next gen. its called a playstation 3 sir....."

Wow...I looked at it and just had to agree, the inferior xbox just seemed wayy overpriced now! I placed my reservation right away!!

note....

the above is a satire to all the "overpriced ps3" hate threads.

Normally I'd say "OMG.. TROLL alert.... woot woot..."..

But in this case.. I know the shop you went to..

I popped in there yesterday to pre-order a PS3, a couple of games, extra controller, HD Lead, headset, the guy quoted me nigh on £600.. my jaw hit the floor, the salesguy then quietly said, "yeah, that is expensive, if I where you, I'd not bother waiting, spend £175 less and get what a console just as powerful, actually producing better games then the PS3 and has like 10 times more games on the shelf now..., it's the 360 premium with XBLA unplugged, PGR3, game of my choice, extra MS wireless controller, HD Lead, headset, and you can add the HD-DVD drive on now, it all adds up to £430.. but if you don't want the HD-DVD Drive, that's fine, just come back when you do want it, you can still play all the next gen games in the mean time.."..

Wow.. what a helpful assistant.. ;)

Oh dear... :p

I would say that with the 360 its all about choice, and that you can go wireless for cheaper than that, and theres a lot of brilliant games around for £15 etc etc.

But there really is no point.

Oh wait, I just said it...

Where's my son? :D

Im not trying to pee anyone off just saying how much a 'proper deal costs'... owned

See my post above.. proper PS3 bundle is closer to £600.. no-one would buy a CORE 360 and bundle it up, you'd get the premium and bundle that up..

The only thing you own is a degree in trolling ;)

i think the OP has just forgot the importance of gaming and having a choice IF thats is all you want to do and just play games, then there is a VAST difference.

If your after something with all the toys, then a PS3 might work out a better option. The 360 is a lot more customisable as a lot of the parts are optional extras on the console, whereas the PS3 is all in one. They might just work out a similar price.

Personally id rather have the 360 in its current status, as it has a wider range of games more than anything, but its up to you.
