My wife has just broken her screen for the second time and I'm not sure it's worth repairing it again, the phone is just too fragile (I've broken both the front and back glass on mine too).

So I'm looking for a reasonably priced replacement. Can someone suggest something that fits some of these requirements please:
- Similar sized screen (no phablets)
- Good battery life
- Android
- Fairly sturdy

Thanks!

The failure rate of back glass on the Z3 series was slightly higher than normal but the front was normal in comparison to gg3 fronted handsets. You'll need either a stronger, more shock absorbing case or be a bit gentler with the handset. You can get tougher devices but they typically cost more and have varying internals (less power typically).

You'll need to provide a budget in order for a decent pick, reasonably priced to you might not be the same to someone else.

Id be looking at something like the moto x play, its a little bigger at 5 inches compared to 4.5 but it fits in nicely at around 250 quid

I put a tempered glass protector on the back, and that helped it from cracking.

Actually, I chipped the protector and cracked it eventually and the glass underneath was ok :)

Im in a similar predicament - I am either going to plump on a Z5 compact or a Moto X Play. The Play is rather larger but its battery life looks stella. The Z5 is a safe option, not much of an upgrade over the Z3 Compact, but physically looks better I think.

Thanks everyone, I don't keep up with phone so I wasn't aware of the Moto X Play. By reasonably priced I mean <£300 really, neither of us needs a top-range phone.

Do you guys not use any case?

I have a Z3c and have dropped it a few times and never cracked anything.

I cracked my screen before I had a case but my wife has managed it even with a case. We do have small children though so everything we own has a high rate of wear and tear :)

Correction - I just bought the Play to have a play with - its FAR too big, dont bother.

I think the One plus X could be a good solution actually, cheap (£200), reasonably sized and decent specs.

I never used a case with my Z3. I don't see the point in buying a nice looking phone, main features being the glass back and slim dimensions, and hiding it in a case.

I was always worried about dropping, scratching or cracking it and sold it after a few months.

I still want a Z3 or Z5 but need a phone I'm not afraid to pick up and use :)

My phone is now a Z3 tablet, doesn't have a glass back and not as easy to drop. Bit difficult getting it in an out of a pocket though.
