Z370 Build - What RAM Speed?

Out of the loop; how much does RAM speed matter these days? Is 2400 DDR4 fast enough? I want to make a nice RGB build, and the GSkill 4x8GB RGB set is under £300 at another site, but it's only 2400. Is that fast enough, or should I drop to 16GB and get faster RAM?

I don't think I really need 32GB, so the latter is probably the better option. The PC is mainly for gaming, office work, the very occasional bit of Google Sketchup.

It seems that now is a bad time to be building a new system, but I'm not willing to wait 6-12 months to see what prices may do.

Cheers!

I am pretty sure Linus Tech Tips did a review recently on ram speed in games.
From memory faster ram helps with the minimum FPS in games, but 2666mhz and above is diminishing returns.

Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_Yt4vSZKVk

Cool, so I'll aim for between 2400 and 3000 and see what's best. I'm wondering if 32GB would actually be better now, as this build will last 5 years (980Ti will be replaced next year most likely).

Next question; are there any pros/cons between having 4 sticks vs 2 sticks, other than future upgrades, not that I can forsee requiring more than 32GB...

3600mhz c16 I found to be the sweet spot in testing. So 2x 8gb 8pack dark pro get my vote.

Thanks for the input guys. I was sort of in a hurry, so ended up buying 3200 C17 sticks. Will the 'lesser' timings affect me much in day to day? I'm going to hazard a guess in that the difference is minimal. I'd wager the heat problems induced by the OEM thermal paste between the die and IHS will affect system speed/throttling/bottlenecking way more than timings?

@8 Pack Does this look right? First time builder, little knowledge of PCs YET...what can i do to get the most out of your RAM? Its 2x8gb 3200mhz sticks on an Aorus ultra gaming Z370 mobo...
Cheers!!

@8 Pack thanks for your response below, i meant to include this picture, haven't touched anything yet though, still researching how to do it. This is a pic of BIOS after building

I would try 16-16-16-38 timings 3600mhz ratio. 1.45v then test..... Then try the same timings 3733mhz. In my testing without tuning many timings 3600mhz c16 is very close to 4000mhz c18-19.
