About to start my new build with an ASRock Z370 Extreme4 and 2x16GB 3000mhz.

Was looking just to use XMP but I’ve seen various reports of issues with it on Z370 chipsets and PCs freezing after 20 mins or so.

E.g. from a forum:
“might have something to do with IA AC/DC Loadline when using adaptive voltage for the CPU. It's a known issue with XMP on Z370 boards.”

Is this a real issue or mostly bios fixed now?

Thanks

Can't say I've seen this issue on the three 3 Z370 motherboards I've used. If it was a known issue it might have been patched in the boards I've used as they were on the latest bios. They were all using adaptive voltage with IA AC/DC.

Thanks for that.
There’s a thread on the ASRock support forum about it with PC’s not booting or crashing after 20 minutes. Sometimes the solution was to manually set the ddr4 voltage and ignore XMP.
I’ve asked in that thread but no answer yet.
They were saying that bios updates didn’t fix it.

Can't say I've heard anything in particular.
AMD had some teething issues with DDR4 on AM4 platforms and people were up in arms about that but heard nothing regarding Intel systems.
I wouldn't worry about it TBH..

Ok thanks to the both of you :)
Board and Ram arrived today so build started. I’ll maybe pop a quick reply to say if there’s an issue.
