I'm looking at replacements for my z5500. While i really like them, a 5.1 system is a little too large for what i need now.

What i want is a 2.1 system that would at least equal them for gaming / music / film audio quality but with a much smaller sub. Perhaps even a 2.0 system...

My budget is up to £250.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

That pretty much rules out the Corsair SP2500, as the subwoofer is massive. Aego M would be a good choice, but only if you can get them for around £120. £150 is too much for them really as they were £90 a few years ago. Harman Kardon Soundsticks III, would be a good choice for £100. They are very good speakers, if you don't mind the funky styling.

If you're not a bass head, then stereo would be the best option for music; but they would need to fairly large speakers not to disappoint when gaming or watching films. Microlab Solo 6C or 7C might be worth considering for powered speakers, or you could get a amplifier and a pair of bookshelf/standmount speakers.
