Hi there, I am interested in purchasing higher quality speaker wire for my z5500s. Willing to spend as much as neccessary to get the best, preferably shielded as I assume its better to have.

Also I am going to connect a tv to them using 2x phono to 3.5mm jack, does it matter which input I connect this to on the control centre, I'm assuming I connect it to the front speakers plug?

I'm sorry I cannot answer your questions, but I will say:

1. Why are you bothering, it won't make a jot of difference?
2. Do you know how to swap the cables as I thought the Z5500 cables were moulded into the units?

The speaker cable is just standard speaker wire which you push in to them normal red & black spring clips like what you would find on most cheap Hifi's & speakers

The very early z5500 speaker systems when first released used moulded plugs..but sometime after there release logitech changed it to spring clips...

But i can't see any point in upgrading the standard speaker wire that comes with them..as i myself think my own z5500 speaker system sound pretty crap because of having no tweeters on the speakers..

Ah

Well thanks for the heads up. That said, I've wall mounted my speakers and now the existing wires aren't long enough anyways so I need to swap them out anyway, I don't know what wire type I need, also I'd rather get shielded speaker wire of whatever is the highest quality just for peace of mind.

Can someone give me a brand and spec?

I've always used the Van Damme Blue series, but it's total overkill for your situation.

Speaker cables are rarely shielded simply because they would never be able to pick up enough interference to make a difference when the sound came out the speaker. Signal cables are because they tend to be amplified after the interference has affected the original signal.
