Z68 chipset and Virtu

There will always be a "risk" on updating discrete GFX drivers, I have never ever had a problem updating them apart from one instance of installing a beta driver, but I was asking for trouble doing that.

Stick to official releases and you should be fine.

Edit : Here you go, I just updated from catalyst 11.12 to 12.11 no problem about 5 mins ago, turned virtu on no problem and quicksync was detected by my encoding program right away, no problems.

Can i ask you your opinion on Virtu and your experience?

Well I only use it for encoding 40min TV episodes to my psp and for that Virtu encodes them in 3 mins, versus just short of 4 mins on my ATI5850. I could not say which is better quality as my resolution is quite small on the PSP, but most sites seem to suggest Virtu/Quicksync is better quality wise.

For myself it was just messing about to see if it worked, I have no advantage saving <1 minuet on an encode but I guess if you are encoding BlueRay or HD video that 15% speed advantage and better quality (according to sites) would be more than worth it.

I would be similar like yourself, encoding a little here and there, no blu rays or anything like that. I suppose as long as the tech works properly it would be a handy thing to have.
