Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

There is no good reason for disabling speedstep or any of the power saving features, unless you're aiming for 5GHz + with offset vcore then disabling C3 and C6 helps. Otherwise leave them ON. Turning them off just wastes electric ;-))

I had to disable C3 I think it was, as it was slowing down my ssd for some reason.:confused:

Sure it was C3 you disabled to get that result or was it the Power Management setting for the Intel controller?

I have to disable the power management (can't rememeber exactly what its called - but its in the bit where you set the IDE/AHCI modes etc) for the intel controller as I noticed slight stutter on my C300 with it on.

Yeah I just checked in the forum I posted it and it was the C3/C6 option that I disabled to get the ssd working properly.

has anyone had issues with the onboard sound? i keep getting audio plugged and audio unplugged errors when using the front port. and sound cuts on the rear ports for split seconds.

i dont have a sound card, but if i get one, i presume something like the Asus Xonar DG 5.1 PCI Sound Card with built in Headphone Amp will allow me to connect my front port

I dont think theres a connection for it on my xtrememusic pci card, It has just got the 2 rows of pins for the front 5.25" audio panel thing? heres a pic of the card I have found on the net but mine the newer xtrememusic with the heatsink on the main chip

Hi guys

Hopefully going to be in possession of one of these boards shortly just wanted to know if there is anything i should install off the motherboard cd like chipset drivers etc or will windows pretty much do it for me?

Thanks for that matey really appreciate it. Might sound silly i know but will i be better off keeping my network cable unplugged and downloading these drivers to a usb stick and installing them all 1 after the other that way windows update cant try and download some generic drivers i guess
 
leave it plugged in as I believe no network drivers get installed until after you install the drivers I linked you to ;)

btw - make sure you use the older 0.5 USB3 drivers - they give better performance than the latest ones
