Hi

I have already got a set of these...

http://www.ocztechnology.com/ocz-ddr3-pc3-12800-platinum-extreme-low-voltage-cl-9-dual-channel.html

which are OCZ DDR3 PC3-12800 Platinum Extreme Low Voltage CL 9 Dual Channel and are rated at 1.35v.

I have noted that motherboards like the
Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard seem to require 1.5v.

I would have liked to use the memory I already have but will the Z68 boards allow a reduction in voltage so that the memory will run ok...?

I have had a look at the above boards manual...
http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-z68xp-ud4_e.pdf

as well as the
Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3...
http://europe.asrock.com/downloadsite/manual/Z68 Extreme4 Gen3.pdf

and even though they mention the DRAM voltage they do not seem to list how low or high they go..?

Any help would be appreciated :)

Thanks for that Dave :)
Just need a confirmation about the Gigabyte board(s) as I'm not too sure which of the two to go for as yet.

the 1.5v stems from the memory controller on SB chips I believe. Intel recommend 1.5v +/- 5%. Most people use 1.6/1.65v with no issues, so provided the board can go as low as 1.35v I can't imagine there being any issue.

You will see some memory stamped as 'SB certified' or '2nd gen 'i' series certified' which simply means it runs natively at 1.5v, or within the 5% range.
