I currently have a Z68 ASUS P8Z68-V Gen 3 motherboard, it only has 6 Data ports, unfortunately when I bought it, it was labelled as the Pro version, but anyway. I've been looking at a new motherboard to replace it, I've got my eye on a Maximus but even that doesn't have enough SATA ports or USB's. The problem I have is, since my current system is pretty high end, I don't want/need to replace the whole lot with current Gen stuff like a bundle

Specs
I7 2600k clocked at 4.2Ghz
16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz (I know its not the fastest but I acquired it cheap over time)
MSI R9 290X

So as far as Z68 boards, with 8 or more SATA ports and a lot of USB's what are my options? I've found it near impossible to find old gen hardware from any online places, and replacing the lot is too expensive and unnessessary

Whilst that would solve my problem, it probably would help much with cable management. I may give it a go just to see what it's like though

The only other option you have is to source a second hand Z77 board from somewhere. The socket is long dead so a decent new board is probably out of the question. Any Z77 boards remaining (if there are any at all) are liklely to be low end and stupidly priced. If any of the boards that you find have sata ports provided by a 3rd party controller such as Marvell go and check some reviews first. The Marvell controllers around that time where awful and performed much worse than the Intel controller provided by the chipset.

Why is it so difficult to source old hardware online? I may put a wanted thread up as my searches online have failed, for the price of an old Maximas board, I could get a current gen
