At the minute for my planned build, I've got the GA-Z68AP-D3 motherboard down for an Intel i5 2500k processor. I'm not planning to overclock and I'm on a fairly tight budget, so is it worth dropping it for a lower mobo?

At the minute, I just want the gaming rig built and done with, as soon as possible preferably. I don't really mind if I have to upgrade a few years later, I just want my rig all done. (I should also note, it's going to have a GTX 580 graphics card, if all goes well that'll be free)

That gigabyte Z68 board is pretty fantastic value and realistically the maximum you can save is under £40, and only then if you go for the cheapest H61 board about.

This board only has two RAM slots, no SATA3 ports, doesn't support overclocking, can only run one graphics card and doesn't have any USB3 ports. It would get you up and running for a bit cheaper - but if you ever want to use these features in the future you would be out of luck and would likely need to spend a lot more than £38.

+1 stick with the Z68AP-D3 it might not be from everyones favourite brand but its excellent value and couple it with a D2 revision i5 2500k and you can safely up the clock ratio to allow 4ghz without any further tinkering.

okay I know you said no OC but when its that easy why not.

How come you getting a free GTX580 ?
