Z77 Maximus Gene Safe Mode?

How do i get into safe mode with this board?

When i press F8 during reboot it goes into a menu which basically asks me which drive do i want to use to boot but no safe mode option :confused:

F8 doesn't work, it opens up ROG boot menu but doesn't allow for safe mode. The only way i figured it would work is to go into msconfig and set safe mode there then restart. After you've done what you needed to do go back into msconfig and disable safe mode and restart to get back into normal windows mode :)

It does work, my Z77 Sabertooth is the same, you just have to time it right.

I'm upto 1.35v for 4.6 at the moment with a high LLC. I've lowered my CPU PLL voltage as well to lower temps abit and it's been working fine. 70c on load now while gaming so im happy :)


I tried 4.7ghz but it's too unstable i think, i can bench 3dmark11 sometimes but often crashes when it gets to the final test. Doesn't crash in prime95 mind you but for some reason it just doesn't like being benched. It passed intel burn test as well lol.


With 4.7ghz i have to use a voltage of around 1.36 or above while trying to maintain a high LLC but i still think its unstable so may have to use ultra high (75%)
 
I had it at 4.6 on 1.320v for 2 weeks, it blue screened on me so I just dropped back to 4.5, 4.5 seems to be the sweet spot for temps with ivy unless you get into delidding, to which I cannot afford to do:)

Did you stress test the cpu prior to having it as a 24/7 overclock?

for me im on watercooling so i dont notice high temps as much, but i noticed the temperature difference between 4.5 and 4.6.. where there isn't any if im honest lol. Might have something to do with the very little voltage i've added on though.
 
well i did for 4.5, but i just thought i would try 4.6 and just use pc as normal to see what happens, i'm not really into days and days of stressing and testing for 100-300mhz, just not worth it as your not really gaining a lot over 4.5, temps were fine as i didn't adjust voltage and it stayed at 1.320v on auto for 4.6, it must have needed a bit more volts, but like i said above, not really worth the hassle and people wanting to play games so no time to keep tinkering all day
