Hi all,
I have recently tried to install a graphics card into PCI-EX slot 2 (the middle slot) with no success. Basically the graphics card will not show up at all. No picture from it at all. I have moved the card to slot 1 for now with no problems but my prefered position is slot 2. Can anyone tell me if this is possible to do? Any help would be great?

M/BOARD= Z77 Sabertooth

Expansion Slots
2 x PCI Express 3.0*/2.0 x16 slots (Single at x16, Dual at x8/x8)
1 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot** [black] (Max. at x4 mode, compatible with PCIe x1 and x4 devices)
3 x PCI Express 2.0 x1 slots
* PCIe 3.0 speed is supported by Intel® 3rd generation Core™ processors.
** The PCIe 2.0 x16 slot shares bandwidth with PCIe 2.0 x1_1 slot, PCIe 2.0 x1_2 slot and PCIe 2.0 x1_3 slot. The PCIe 2.0 x16 slot default setting is in x1 mode.

Should run in the 2nd slot, have you checked the socket in bios? people on here have used the 2nd slot before some thing to do with there sound cards.

that slot is for a second card in sli or crossfire the top slot is used in a single card config

Yeah I had kinda thought that. This might be a problem for me. Ive bought a new cpu heatsink and it's huge. I had heard somewhere that it could interfere with slot one. Funny thing is though the guy had the same board as me, so unless he was using the onboard graphics he would have had the problems. I need to check it when I get home.

The only setting I could see was type of graphics ie auto, onboard or pci. There was another option. I think it was x1 or x4 mode. I didn't seem relevant. Cheers
