Hey All,

Building a new PC now and selecting components, with 14th Gen and ML around the corner, is it worth getting the motherboard now while I wait for the CPU ordering, or is there no news on a new updated chipset yet?

Thanks.

Could consider Z690 as well, it's also supported if you wanted to save a few pennies.

Personally would wait to see what 14th gen refresh looks like in actual reviews before diving in.

If you do buy something, make sure it has flashback, but I wouldn't, because we don't know yet what compatibility will be like.

More wanting to buy a Z790 board as the one I want is in spec and its rare to find a silver board lol. So was hoping it would be good going into 14th Gen.

Thanks.

Might be of interest:

MSI is joining the ranks of the rest of the manufacturers to release BIOS support for Intel's 14th Gen Raptor Lake-S Refresh Desktop CPUs on its 600 and 700-series motherboards. The existing motherboards can be updated with the new BIOS now which will enable support for Intel's new chips which are expected to launch in the next few months. Would still only buy one with flashback.

First ever system I’ve built as been stable, if yours haven’t been you are the problem not the system. I mean who is say there was a unstable system like it’s all good….

It was only a question?

I'd not seen that thread before and to be honest I'm struggling to see what they are talking about... I don't get any 'latency' in windows switching apps or searching files. It all seems highly subjective opinion, whatever it is they are talking about - they don't seem to be able to quantify what they are saying.
