What's a good motherboard in the Z87 range for the i5 Haswell?

I'm not looking to spend much.

I've looked at GIGABYTE GA-Z87-HD3 Intel Z87, it looks similar to GIGABYTE GA-Z87-D3HP Intel Z87 except there's less USB 3.0 and other things.

Is that the only difference? Is there something I'm missing? I'd prefer buying the GA-87-HD3 instead of the D3HP because It's a lot cheaper (£94 compared to £109 or so)

How do you know that a motherboard is good, or not?

Just about to ask the same question mate!

I am torn between the £158 and the £131 one. Hell, I wouldn't mind going lower than that really so I can add the corsair h100i cooler to it as well. I am going to stick the 4770k in there and I wanted to know if it will make a difference overclocking wise, or is it just extra features?

Sorry to hijack the thread I just thought we both would benefit from the answers :)

I'm in the same situation, really trying to save money somehwere. z77 had a lot more cheaper boards but i guess z87 may in time become the same. The gigabyte d3h for 1155 was the reccomended budget board but not sure about 1150 yet..

We use the D3HP in system a lot here. I have helped clocking several and that board has worked very well. No reason to say the D3H will not but I have no experience with that one yet.

I know the gigabyte has been reviewed on the forums and seems popular for a cheaper board but i've always liked asus and from searching here i can't find any talk about their Asus Z87-A or PLUS, only the expensive ones have been mentioned, so im wondering why is that as it looks like a really nice board, possibly a bit better than the gigabyte?
