Just put together a new system for a friend:-
Asus Z87-K
32GB Corsair Dominator RAM
Intel i7 4770K
R280 X GC
Toshiba SSD
Corsair CX750W PSU

OS - Win 7 64 bit

From QVL's etc compatibility appears OK however system posts then defaults to BIOS and will not boot from Win 7 CD in DVD drive. BIOS correctly I.D.'s all components. Updated BIOS, used silicon washers on MOBO screws to rule out grounding issues, removed graphics card, swapped round and re-seated cables, removed sticks of RAM etc etc.
Win 7 CD is legal but I am going to try a Digital River Download burned to CD.

If anyone has experience of anything similar I am running out of ideas.

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

Daft question - did you set the dvd drive as the first boot device in the BIOS?

Download legit windows 7 iso (Google to find it)

Download and install MS windows 7 usb/dvd tool.

Burn Windows 7 to usb stick using windows 7 tool(at least 8 gigs)

Install windows 7 via usb stick.

Already got Win 7 Pro from Digital River.
Re-seated all connections no joy
Swapped out SSD for WD 1TB HDD switched to IDE from AHCI.
Now HDD is not detected this is on same cable as DVD Drive which has power.
Swapped HDD for another WD HDD. No joy.
Re-checked cables and connections. No joy
Swapped out internal power cable.
It all works.

Very embarrassing getting caught out by an internal power cable, lots of testing to do but I think thats the problem solved. This was the only cable I did not physically swap.

Thank you for your support.
