Z87 pro ram ?

Quick question I have parts ready for a build

I have asus x87 pro mobo
I5 4670k
3x 4gb sticks ddr3 crucial ballistix 1600 elite

Now I'm over clocking the cpu am I better to run 2 sticks or 3 ??

Benefits of dual channel over an extra 4gb ?

One of my Dimms died leaving me with three 4GB sticks and I've been running it this way for a couple of weeks now. CPUz says that it's still running in dual channel mode, though I guess that can only be the first 8GB. Not noticed any slow downs, not even when using over the 8GB when 3D rendering.
Eventually I'll probably just get a faster 2x8GB kit and use that but in the mean time if doesn't appear to be causing any problems and the overclock didn't seem to care whether I used two or three dimms, the memory voltage is still at 1.5v.
 
awesome, thanks, just wasn't sure on the whole dual channel issue.

So in theory it will still use the 2 x 4gb in dual channel. then if it needs more goes the the extra 4gb in single channel access ?
