Z97P-D3 / G3258 OC Help

In need of help with manual overclocking with the following components as i tried the easy way by using easytune and let it auto overclock which the software did at 4.2 ghz but it would freeze a lot.

In the bios i see there is no profile for my memory so it is disabled.

At the minute i am using the easytune software with the cpu at 3.6 ghz but would like to config through the bios with a rock solid overclock of 4.2 ghz+

CPU - G3258

MB - Z97P-D3

Memory - 16GB HyperX Fury 1866 CL10

Cooler - Hyper 212 EVO

GPU - GTX 550 TI 1GB [ i know the gpu is old and slow but will do in the mean time]

Do you know if the crashing was due to CPU temps at all? Also what CPU cooler do you have?

It is more likely that the voltage needs increasing to sustain the higher OC, a G3258 should be able to 4.2 no problem. Have you ever tweaked voltages in a manual OC before?
