Hiya guys

Having some major issues here considering to do a rma on the mobo.

I can't get the mobo to boot up into the bios or even windows sometimes it will actually happen but might possibly freeze then ill have to restart the pc then that's not even a 100% chance of it booting at all.

I have noticed the LED Number flash thingy Sometimes won;t come one showing no Error codes or such when this happens the mobo won;t boot at all. Everything seems to be spinning checked all the cables etc and still no luck. When this happens there's no signal to the monitor.

Even resetted the bios with the switch and even tried doing it via leaving the battery out for 30 minutes still no luck.

Pc has been working fine for the past week without any issues but last night i was playing War Thunder and the pc crashed No Bsod or anything just instantly shut off. then the issues started to happen.

Kinda Stumped as to what to do.

I assume it wouldn't be a issue with the cpu overheating otherwise the pc would just instantly turn off if that was the case.

What's the rest of your system spec?

If it won't even get into the BIOS, then it could well be the motherboard but you need to eliminate other possibilities first.

Have you tried running on onboard graphics with 1 stick of RAM and nothing else connected. If you still can't get into the BIOS, I'd reckon it's either the motherboard or a PSU issue.

Yes i tried running onboard graphics with only one stick and that didn't solve the problem either.

I would be fairly confident that you've got a board issue, but in any situation like this you want to try and rule out as many options as possible just in case it's something stupid.

Do you have another PSU you can use to rule that out? Just because fans spin up, it doesn't necessarily mean that the PSU is operating correctly and delivering sufficient power.

Possibly a stupid idea, but have you tried it outside the case? I can't see how it could be shorting out if it's been previously OK, but it's worth a shot.

The only other Psu i have is in my media pc which is running a 750 Watt Corsair Modular psu. I could take it out and try it on my main pc but surely if it was the psu i would think the pc wouldnt be able to start sometimes without a issue untill it crashes or freezes.

I'm fairly sure your board is faulty, but if you do have another PSU available it's worth testing with another PSU just to confirm it's not the PSU.

If you can replicate the symptoms with another known working power supply, then you can be fairly certain that the board is faulty.

Yup working on Switching the psu's over just in case. will reply back once i know more.

The board has a switch to flip to the second BIOS I think, try that.

Ditch the gfx card and use the onboard gfx.

Unplug all drives as you don't need those to get onto the BIOS.

Run a single ram stick then try the other.

Yup i tried the switch and the pc was just turning on then shutting off constantly. Saw other people had rthe same issue when i searched around.

Ok Installed the spare psu into it and pc actually started up and i got to the part of installing windows again so had to restart pc again and the issue came up again not booting at all.

I think the mobo is dead or some fault.

Also would the warranty cover something like this? Otherwise ill buy a new motherboard.

I know i brought the motherboard atleast 2 years ago or slightly under as i brought it during black friday on ocuk not the last one but the one before hand.

Going by the thread in the graphics card menu it could turn into a nightmare. Take loads of quality photographs of the board (read the Giabyte rma thread in graphics and you will see why) and clean all of that dust off. Give them nothing to reject the rma with. Don't forget to fit the socket protector too.

Update:
So after switching the psu i ran into the same issues but Left the pc off for a little while came back after eating lunch decided to pop into the bios and check all the settings. I then proceeded to reinstall windows onto my ssd.

Now i am currently updating and installing updates and drivers pc has restarted around 4 or 5 times now. Just restarted for a windows update it got stuck during post for some odd reason had to hold the power switch down to restart it and the same problem came back.

think its deffo the mobo no doubt.

Definitely sounds like the board's faulty then.

Time to start up the RMA process then. Hopefully you won't have a nightmare like some people have.

Yeah well i have decided to just buy another mobo but ill rma my old board and use it for a upgrade in my Server machine.

Actually its not really all that dusty. The cables seem attract abit of dust here and there but when i opened it up for a cleaning as well wasnt too bad. Isn't caked in dust^^
