Hi guys, this is my father-in-laws car not mine.
I borrowed the car last week to go on holiday with and before I left he warned me about a problem with the car losing power sometimes on the motorway.
You can be going along quite happily and then the car loses ALL power, regardless of if you change gear, push the pedal through the floor or even attempt rev it in neutral. It just wil not rev at all, until it drops below 2k RPM when suddenly the power kicks back hard. It then continues to do this for the rest of the journey unless you pull off for an hour or two.
This only happens on the motorway and not everytime either, I was lucky enough to be able to drive all the down to Devon and back and not have the problem once. However theres time when it can't even male it from M4 J10(Wokingham) to the M25 without doing it.
Any ideas guys? He's thinking vapour lock but wants other opinions.
[EDIT] Forgot to mention it a 1999(T) 1.6 8v Petrol
