Zalman 5.1 Headphones - Any Good ?

Not that I have owned a pair but from reports I have read on them, No.....

People tend to go for the Medusa 5.1's. In my opinion they are pap too.
It is a matter of opinion though as some people really rate them. I had a
pair and returned them a day later. If you search the forums for the
Speedlink Medusa 5.1's you will find a few threads.

It all depends on what you want them for.

I have a pair of Medussa headphones. They are GREAT for gaming, especially on-line FPS. You can really get an advabtage over the enemy 'cos you can hear where they are shooting from.

However, if you buy them to use as good quality hi-fi headphones, then forget it.

Basically, gaming = 9/10 hi-fi listening = 5/10

Hope this helps.

I've owned Zalman and Medusa 5.1 headsets. The Medusas sounded quite a lot better, I really didn't like the tinny coloured sound of the Zalmans at all. Even the Medusas weren't exactly great sound quality though. I would never listen to music on either, but the Medusas are just about good enough for gaming.

Also neither offered particularly convincing surround sound compared with speakers. You do get some positional information, but things never really sound in front or behind properly.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm basically looking for some 5.1 headphones for FPS playing, I'm not too bothered by top quality music playback or for DVD watching.

Just need something for those late night gaming sessions when the missus is asleep in bed (Which happens a lot at the moment with her being pregnant!!).

With this in mind, would the Medusa's or the Zalman's be better ?????

I can echo that.

I love my Zalman phones though!

I had the Zalman 5.1s for a long time and they were perfect for gaming (could tell exactly where enemies are etc), I was satisfied for the price but going from those to Sennheiser PC165 (admittedly a lot more expensive) there was a noticeable difference in sound.

The one thing good about the Zalman's over the Sennheiser/Medusas (I have Medusas also) is that the headphones fit completely over your ear. whereas for me the Medua/Sennheiser fit more over the ear.

Also I hate the velvety material on the Sennheisers/Medusas! The soft squishy leathery material was the Zalman's felt nicer :)

I was wondering this too, sorry to keep asking, but does anyone have or know where to get a set of Turtlebeech Earforce HPA 5.1's from?

If so how do they compare to the £20odd Zalmans?

Cheers

I had the zalmans before my dog broke them :/ Good for games but poor for music a bit on the large side. I just got some HD201s (Sennheiser) and they are brilliant for both.

The Sennheiser are only stereo, but for £14 delivered with better sound quality they are a bargain.
