Also if i tell *** gigabyte software to go for 5.1 it only wants to do it digitaly.

Any ideas (or if you need clarification of what im chuntering about) let me know.

You need to get your soundcard to output 5.1 analogue for these phones. If it can't do that (surely it can) then you're stumped.

You would think so but nope, only 2, 4, 6, or 8 channel.

Ill see if there is a way of forcing it.

Or i buy me a cheap nasty 5.1 sound card.

If 6 channel includes a sub channel then that pretty much is 5.1. You just want to stop the onboard from redirecting the low frequencies only to the sub channel, since of course the Zalmans don't have any subs and you want to full frequencies sent to each of the six speakers in the phones so you get proper bass.

If 6 channels is 6 positional channel though, that's no good. Audigy 2 ZS off ebay would be a cheap way of getting a decent 5.1 soundcard.

Right 6 channel is 5.1 (bloody gigabyte) Also rear speakers arnt rear they are called side.

Well i have it working, it sounds nice, i think a freind has proper 5.1 system in his comp may try and see what it sounds like on his, just to make sure its the same.

You'll find the sound field is different to 5.1 with speakers. The centre channel, which is mono, is played through both the frontmost speakers. The front left / front right channels are played through the right/left speakers. Then the rears are as they should be. So the front portion of the soundfield is stretch backwards. Also since the centre channel is played through 2 speakers it tends to dominate the sound and you need to reduce it's volume.

I found the sound quality on the Zalmans wasn't really acceptable.
