Zalman 9700 ok for Q6600?

I'm playing around overclocking my new Q6600 G0 chip, i dont have a great deal of room in my case due to the Thermalright HR-03 heatsink ive got snaked around my 8800.

Currently im using my Freezer Pro 7 and needless to say im getting high temps like 84c

I was told that the zalman should fit in alongside the thermalright but im concered about its cooling power, cant seem to find any reviews that use a quad.

I bought one just in case and i dont fancy fitting it untill i know it will do the job.

Anyone got experience with them?

Cheers for the quick reply, looks good to me, i'm putting 1.45v into mine for 3.51ghz at the moment.

What have you got the voltage set at in the bios?

Ah gotcha, what fan speed do you run the 9700?

I've just fitted it and i've got to say its insanely loud unless you keep the control right down at the bottom.

This setting is giving me temperatures a few degrees lower than my Freezer 7 Pro but obviously its much quieter so its not all bad

Lack of space, I'm not keen on turning around the heatsink on my 8800 as it will block all my pci slots

After much faffing around, adding washers to the heatsink clip, using more as5 and getting my motherboard to auto control the fan ive managed to get my temps down 73c at 3.6ghz + 1.45v.

Things are looking up but its still incredibly loud when i load all cores.

Oh well, it's nice to know when its working i suppose

Yeah mate, after a day of stressing i've got it stable with 1.475v @ 3.6ghz, temps are around 77-78c after 8 hours of Orthos small fft's.

This is probably close to the edge, i'll more than likely get watercooling at some point, eitherway its doing the job and only gets super loud during stressing, games dont get near that temp.
