Hi guys,

I'm currently running my X3 720 with an Arctic cooling freezer pro 64. Idles at 30°C, under load at ~43°C.

First question... Will i get any cooling boost from changing to a zalman 9700/9900? worth the cost? (basically, i'm not sure if water cooling is worth it for the cost.)

If so... whats the actual difference between the CNSP9700 and the 9900 coolers? Both support my chip, both physically look the same. the size of the heatsinks are slightly different, the 9700 being bigger than the 9900, and the fan runs faster on the 9700. That doesn't necessarily mean the cooling is better on the 9700 though, so does anyone have any experience with both of these?

Cheers.

I had the 9700 and found it to be a very good air cooler - one of the best. It may only drop your current temperatures by a few degrees as your temperatures are quite low anyway. Unless your are planning some crazy overclocks or something I don't think you need to upgrade at all let alone water cooling.

Well tbh there is nothing wrong with those temps to start with. I wouldnt be looking to change my cooler as things stand with you. Also there are better coolers for the sort of money your talking about. Noctua and Thermalright make some of the best coolers and both are in the price bracket you are considering. i believe the 9900 is better than the 9700 but neither will top a TRUE or a noctua cooler.

Still I wouldnt bother, those temps are perfectly fine.
