hi. i recently bought the AMD 64 3700+ skt939 and since im going to overlclock it i need a good cpu cooler that will be low on noise and high performance. most reviews ive read say that the Zalman Aero Flower is low on noise and high performance. i didnt read any reviews on the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro so i need an opinion on which one to get.
thanks

most people on here seem to sa the Freezer 64 is the best low cost cooler, that and the Thermaltake Big Typhoon.

If you have a bigger budget then the Scythe Ninja with a nice big 120mm, low noise fan (Akasa Amber perhaps) will even better.

There is a lot of debate on this issue.
I personally recomend the Zalmon 9500pro, it looks amazing and really does cool well, and it is quiet on a low fan settings.
the Zalmon 7700, Artic Cooling Freezer, Thermalright XP-120 and the Thermaltake Big Typhoon all have there fans, and all perform on a fairly similar level.

I am interested in this as well, wondering what the best air cooling will be, (not scythe-too big for my board). Well if anyone has had several of these to compare would be nice to hear what they found to be best.

My friend has the Zalmon 7700-CU and that perform just as good as my old version freezer 64. So the pro should be better that the 7700-CU now.

XP-120 I've heard its not as great as it looks, but thats just what i've heard so I could be wrong.

I dont know about the thermaltake so no comment there.

A friend has the scythe it does perform better than the freezer 64, because yeh its bigger and has more pipes but as iraiquana says it is rather large for a lot of cases and boards aswel.

I've got the SI-120 in my board, here are my results from OCCT...

That was as soon as I'd put it in, the AS5 has probably had time to break in since and the temps might be a bit better:)

I've had in the past year or so:

Zalman 7000Alcu
Zalman 7000Cu
Thermalright XP90C
Zalman 9500

Best solution by far has been the 9500 compared to the other 3 for both noise & overall cooling performance.

The 7000s are not quiet unless set to low 1400RPM mode much more than 1650RPM they wine and get quite noisy around the 2000RPM mark.

Thermalright XP90C works best when your case has a lot of ventilation/airflow and can cause some mobos to overheat due to its massive bulk hindering airflow around the case.

The 9500 for me outperformed the other 3 by a long way for both noise & cooling performance. Totally silent on 1400RPM as well and that is good enough for more than most CPUs.

I used to have the XP90C, changed it for the SI-120 and my temps dropped about 2-3C both in idle and load.. also because of the 120mm fan it has made my PC a lot quieter:)

I recieved my Freezer Pro today... I have a 3700 SD running at 2.8GHz, stock volts, 32c idle and 39c load. Should go down a few degrees once the thermal paste sorts itself out.
