Can anyone confirm that I have received the incorrect clips for this unit?

The box states that the cooler fits an AM3+ motherboard. The AMD clips supplied are completely straight and rigid and there is a unreasonable gap between them and the backplate. I am convinced that screwing these down properly (if that's even possible) will damage the CPU and motherboard. The clips differ from the ones illustrated in the manual (link below) as well as ones I have previously seen for AMD motherboards.

Only two sets of clips, one for Intel and one AMD. There are 3 sets of bolts too, and one of these sets is meant for all AMD sockets, so it's not a bolt length issue.

On the Zalman Website, these are the AMD clips for your cooler.

Seems to be the same.
Could be an old picture from an older model?

If it fits and supports it, then it should be fine.

Those are the same clips, you're right. This is my first time fitting an aftermarket cooler so I am being cautious. However, one the bolts are placed through the clips they barely even touch the nuts in the backplate. I found it difficult to get one threaded and I screwed it halfway down before encountering resistance. At this point the other end of the clip had raised up and it really did feel like I could do damage to the CPU.

A clip like the one shown in the manual would solve this problem and still be secure. Unless I'm not meant to screw them in all the way, which seems ridiculous.

I've got a Alpenfohn k2, so im not too sure. But with mine, i've always screwed each screw a small bit in and keep going round screwing them a bit more. Don't over do screwing each one individually. Once they're lined up screw one in a tiny bit until it doesn't come out and go round doing them all more by more until no more can be done.

Mine has always been ridiculously fiddly. The feeling of relief once its on though. :D

I will have to try again then but I remember being very careful and found the tension to be unreasonable. I really do not want to damage the CPU and motherboard.

Silver bolts B, that's right. The design of the cooler I don't think has changed at all. The only thing that appears to be different are the clips! It does mean the ends are a few millimetres higher than the previous clips, and it seemed to me, without initially checking, that the bolts were a few millimetres off! Thanks for your responses, by the way.
