Has anyone got experience with this case?

I am looking to build a HTPC and this case is top of my list at the moment but I would like some feedback from others that have used this case

My main concern is for the system to be quiet, I would also like to install 2 x 500gb HDD in this case

Any comments?

I have just put together a system using it. Its a very nice case but there are some issues with it. It is not designed for a large power supply so to mount my Enermax 1000w I had to remove the bottom fan which normally sits behind the supply. There are then no mounting holes that match up (but its not going very far anyway).

Secondly the CD/DVD drive has to have the bezel removed and the aluminium one supplied with the case is self adhesive. Also the eject button is removed and the one supplied with the case substituted. Neither the bezel nor the eject fit my Asus DRW-1608P3S and I am waiting for advice on a suitable drive.

If you are fitting the BFG GeForce 8800 graphics then it is slightly too long. You have to loosen the screw to the 3.5" drive mounting chasis and skew it slightly, fit the card and then tighten the screw (so the drives are at a slight angle). If you wanted two 8800 cards fitted you would have to remove the 3.5" drive chasis and drill some alternative mounting holes in the base and side to move it back about 1cm.

There is plenty of room for your 2 x 500Gb and there is a fan on them if needed. I think its 5 internal drives - but there is only the one external 5.25" for the DVD.

Don't forget you need a dual display graphics card to power the internal display and the main monitor. The internal runs to a standard VGA plug on the end of a lead that comes out through a card slot in the rear. It is then plugged into your graphics card.

The internal circuits need to use USB connection to the motherboard so you lose some of those.

The fans are not silent when running flat out so how noisy the system would be depends on how slow you can run them. There are temp sensors provided and you can specify the temp they come on and the speed - front and rear independantly.

I am still playing with my system and fan levels but will probably fit a better silent cpu cooler so the system fans can be run slower. I have a quad processor but probably there would be less problems with a lower spec CPU.

If you are using Windows Vista, make sure all the software is run with supervisor access (fans and touchscreen controllers) otherwise it doesn't work properly - some essential config tabs don't appear.

Regards

Dave

Thanks for the reply, I will place my order for one as it looks like a nice case and from what you say no major issues

Unfortunately OC UK are out of stock at the moment but hopefully I can get one soon

Waste of money, buy a LCD touchscreen and place it on your coffee table instead. Case mounted LCD touchscreen is a gimmick, once you build your HTPC you won't use the touchscreen.

There's a 7" LCD touchscreen for sale in MM. Buy that instead.

I ordered my case before they were available and I think most were sold before the first batch came in. Worth the wait though.

Certainly you could use an external touchscreen but the point of this system is its a nice self-contained unit for when you don't want the lounge to look like a computer room. Cost was not really an issue but its only a small percentage of the full system cost anyway.

By the way you can't fit the CNPS9700 cooler as its too tall. I might try a 9500 to see if it can reduce the main fan speed requirements. Currently I just have the fan that came with the processor which doesn't help the general airflow through the case. Other suggestions always welcome.
