Just installed a new zalman heatsink onto my new CPU. I noticed that once i screwed it down it moves abit. Is this right or do i need to leave it for the zalman paste to dry?

Hmm, never used that cooler before so im not familiar with the mount system.
The other Zalmans Ive used have been good but given a little bit of play in rotation around the center where the pressure is applied.

Does this mean it will move when i turn my case the right way up? i am worried it will move and it wont be cooling properly. Its only sliding about but is pressed firmly against the processor.

how easily is it sliding?
The old ones wouldnt move unless you made them.

Just put your PC the right way up with it off and the side off and keep an eye on the movement of the cooler. It shouldnt shift.

no heat protection would shut the processor down. Boot up and see what the temp is in bios or using realtemp. Then stress test it using something like prime 95 to check its performing well.

This is normal as long as it's still firmly against the cpu surface. The paste will set over time.

i got a zalman cnps10x extreme cooler on my core i5-750 and its overclocked @ 3.6ghz temps at idle are 29c and at load 47c so i would say your temps are a bit high my cooler is not the same model as yours but does not move its quite firm was a bit of a nitmare to put on but been running for 3 weeks now and ive had pretty consistent temps but on the other hand i dont know your set up i ran prime 95 on mine and had np so that mite be your best bet goodluck
