Hi all,
I have managed to get a Zalman HD 160 HTPC case for free.
I've also managed to salvage a fairly decent MB, AMD Processor and, most importantly, a Asus XONAR Essence Soundcard.
I wanted to build a nice audio rig which used something like roon but the cost of a windows licence is making a seemingly free / cheap build into something which costs substantially more...
I want to play the audio out of the SPDIF optical out of the Asus Xonar into a DAC.
My idea was to have a windows roon server which I can control via a tablet of some sort.
Is there any cheap or free ways I could do this with Linux or similar? I'm pretty sure the Xonar has a Linux driver.
Maybe I'm missing a more obvious solution?
Many thanks in advance, as usual!
