I've just received (most of) the bits for my new PC from OcUK, and I've opened the Zalman Reserator 2, and it's only got a 2-pin plug on.

Is this right? Should it not have a normal UK plug?

I remember some body else mentioning this.
It appears that's what's included in the package, but I'm not sure what the legal obligation is. I thought they had to include all the bits to make it work, which would include a 3 pin plug if you asked me.

Hope you get it sorted, and let us know how you get on once it's up and running as I'm interested in this piece of kit :)

Edit - Check the 10th post.

I'll be phoning OcUK tomorrow anyway, as the speakers I ordered weren't in the delivery, so I'll ask about this as well.

I guess I'll try and get it all working on air tonight, just to test as many componants as possible.

You can use the 2-pin plug in UK's wall sockets. Use a pen to push into the top middle hole (earth) and then plug the 2-pin plug into the other 2 holes.

I've been doing that with various electronic equipment for over 15 years an never had any problems. All tourists that come to the UK use this method :D why spend money on adapters?

because there earthed?

They do indeed dome like that as standard.

Either use a simple "razor" adapter from Boots or chop the plug off and wire on a UK one - either way it'll only cost you about a quid.

lol thats a good one. next time you take a look at some electrical equipement, like a dvd player or an av amplifier, make note of the plastic pin at the top of the plug;) that wont be doing much, will it?

lol if it comes with a 2 pin plug as standard, it doesnt need an earth at all. even if you did buy a 3 pin adaptor for it, where would that 3rd pin connect?

Into the top of the socket ;)

I've just popped to Tescos and got 2l of distilled water and a cheap power adaptor. Better safe than sorry, and there's something in my mind that stops short of sticking a screwdriver into a power socket...
