Hi,

I am very interested in water cooling my pc now that my 8800 makes a racket when pushed.

I want to cool my 8800GTX and C2D 6700E, which cooler would be best, i assume the R2 has more heat dissapation??? I would prefer one of these two as they are fanless, i want an almost fanless system.

Zalman Reserator1
or
Zalman Reserator2?

and more importantly would the DangerDen 8800 GTX Block work with eather the Zalman Reserator1 or Zalman Reserator2

Cheers
:)

Both resorator's are glorified E-penises, they both preform REALLY poorly.

There are numerous articles on how cooling a dual core CPU with a resorator 1 can actually be dangerous as they perform so poorly that if the processor is under load for prolonged periods of time, they cant neccessarily take all the heat away fast enough to keep the cpu from overheating. Resorator 2 is marginally better but not much.

I can't be bothered to search for links at the moment, there was a thread about it on this board so maybe if you search resorator you will find them yourself.

Also sticking a graphics card (and im assuming a chipset) into a resorator loop would pretty much be like sticking it into an oven, certain death :)

I'd recommend buying a decent water kit and splash out on some decent quiet fans, you probably wont hear them over ambient anyway and atleast they will actually be able to cool your CPU better than the stock cooler, unlike a resorator.

You say numerous articles but you cant point to one.
I liked the resor+1 so much that i bought 2 so that i could overclock amd opteron 185 at 3120Mhz & 2 ATI 1900xtx crossfire harder & still have silence.

Oh & ambient was the PC before the resor.

But research is need to see if its enough for his setup at stock.

I've found the reserator1 to be great at what it was designed for - cooling a PC very quietly under ordinary conditions.

My rig in sig with GFx and CPU cooled ran at a maximum of 52 degrees C in the heat of last summer with full load.

Using it for components that run at a very high temp when pushed won't give great results.

Whilst I disagree with the E-penis comment (horses for courses), I agree that a watercooling solution with silent fans is more likely to be what you are looking for (as I believe the 8800 pushes a fair bit of heat).
