Zalman Z9 Plus - Fan Controller :(

OK. So I built up a rig today using the Zalman Z9 Plus case. All went well as per usual. Fired it up, installed Windows.

Only problem is the fan controller doesn't seem to be doing it's job. I'm turning the dial, but nothing is happening!

I know the fans are connected properly as they are powering up and spinning away nicely. However, there speed doesn't change in accordance to the dial.

Have I missed something here? Is it a faulty controller? Anything I should be checking or looking for?

I googled the issue and no one else seems to mention it.

Sounds faulty to me.

Looks like the dials might be broke.

What type of fans are you using?

Just the stock fans that came with the case.

The fans are spinning and being powered. Just can't be controlled.

It must be faulty. Can't think of anything to test.

Is there a way of testing it anyone?

If you turn it all the way down, do the fans stop?

Tried a diferent fan?

Could be that the fans don't like the voltage controll.

They should like voltage control considering they're supposed to work with it.

Doesn't matter if it's all the way down or up. No change what so ever. Sounds bust.

I think the case is excellent value for money, looks great, great construction, cable management is good. For £45 it's hard to beat.

I might sound stupid saying this but have you plugged the two fans you want to control into the two 3 pin plugs coming out of the front panel and not into the motherboard?

Not stupid at all! I'm sure this is probably an easy mistake to make. Unfortunately it's not the case

They're definitely connected to the fan controllers headers. They're getting power, so makes me wonder.

It's a 4 pin molex then coming off of that is the two fan connector plugs. I'm tempted to try and strip out the controller unit and have a tinker.

It's not a major problem. However, it is quite annoying.

I bought this case recently the fans are fine - they push decent air without being noisy. The controller only seems to have two settings though, although high setting isn't that much louder than low.

Not that big of a deal I suppose then. It's not for me anyway... so I'm not "That" bothered.

It's not like they don't spin up and it's catastrophic. I'm not sending it back and stripping the build just for this.
