Zavvi placed into administration

Lets just hope OcUK can survive as I will be gutted if we lost the store and these forums.

It was no surprise, their main supplier is Entertainment UK (owned by Woolworths) - it's no reflection on their retail performance.

Heard about this a few weeks back, apparently Woolworths distribution company (I forget their name, something beginning with "e") were one of the only suppliers willing to deal with Zavvi. The end of Woolworths was the end of Zavvi.

Hilariously, Woolworths was another major client of ours. We won the contract in September.

We've been told that it ends in January 2009.

Great timing, guys!

Thing is, certainly up until the point I left, Entertainment UK were/are supplying Tesco as well.

Agreed.

Walmart could snap Tesco like a carrot.

Can't really belittle Tesco like that. Yes Walmart are number one, but Tesco are world number four and growing faster than Walmart.

Tesco has a net income of £2.13bn compared to Walmart's $12.73 (£8.66bn). No one's about to be snapped!
