Hi all,
I'm a bit of an old timer (age wise!) who needs some advice!
I enjoy playing games (ut2004/BF2/COD2/CODUO etc) but because my PC is in the sitting room my wife is not happy to have big keyboards on view all the time...

so I was thinking about buying the Zboard Fang - and that way it could be hidden whilst I wasn't gaming.

Does anyone use one of these and are they worth the investment? Does anyone rate them?

I've looked at the Logitch G15 (which a lot of people like) but my Mrs hates it and I dont want to constantly change keyboards every time I play a game!

I've got an MX500 aas the mouse which I'm quite happy with but I'm always open to some really good advice!

The alternative is to buy a joystick...... ;)

No, it's not an alternative ;)
And no, those keyboard glove pad type things imo sucks piles.
Get the ol bat to let this one go, is the best answer i reckon :D

Thanks for that - it seems I only get one reply for this question - obviously lots looked but no-one uses!

I think I might have to try and talk the Mrs round (here goes.....) :D

That Fang looks pretty cool, though i can't see how that'll look any less worse then having a keyboard, if anything i think it'll stand out more.

At any rate, any keyboard is going to be visible, so personally i'd opt for one that looks nice, perhaps something with laptop style keys, or at least something nice and sleak looking, that way when the other half sees it she'll think WOW WHAT A SEXY KEYBOARD! :D

Obviously this rules out big bulky and ugly (imo) keyboards like the G15 (sorry it looks like a kids toy more then a kb to me).

I've been gaming with regular keyboards since i started, and i've had a chance to play on keyboards like the zboard, and unless you really play hardcore gaming its really not worth the wonger imo.

Buy a keyboard that feels good to you, screw what others say 'even me' and just get one that suits you.

The idea is that I unplug the Fang and put it in the video cupboard when not in use ( anyway my 3 & 4 year old would marmalise it :D ) and leave the main kb out along with the mouse...

my pc case has usb ports at the front so unplugging it is not an issue - I'm not a hard core gamer (more weekend warrior !) so I'm just looking for something to make my life easier when I do play!

lol "weekend warrior" how incredibly geeky sounding. i have a g15 get one o them lol, it's an even bigger keyboard ;)

Why not just buy a wireless keyboard and then just tuck it away somewhere when not in use, would avoid fiddly unplugging. Just a thought anyway.

The fang retails around £30'ish .....

I'd love to have one myself but thats near on double i paid for my keyboard....

and what is involved in marmalising something? ....

lol - spreading jam on it, using it as a tea table for the teddy bears picnic or getting sticky fingerprints all over it! occasional dribble too! just general yukkieness from young kids! lol :D :D

It's not that she objects to seeing a keyboard out - just doesnt want to see a big gaming kb out all the time - she also uses the pc during the day (for general surfing etc) so she needs the kb to be out but doesnt want to have an ugly great kb on display! :D

I settled on the Belkin Nostromo N52 game pad and I must say it's pretty good.

am getting a Saitek controller soon too so I can compare them.

If I like the Saitek more than the Belkin then I'll sell off the N52.

the Fang on paper looks good but I wasn't impressed with the ZBoard - the gaming keys felt quite flat to me and the Fang keys look the same.

the other available is the Wolfking Warrior - not sure what this one is like but similiar in principle to the Fang.

Can't post competitor information gavin mate... ;)

I was gonna ask you how much you paid for it (or will be) but i just googled and £30 or there abouts was average.

Might wanna edit your post, before someone else does it for you matey.... ;)

If you do get the fang, let me know how it feels, comfort wise..... seems like one of those 'handy to have' items.

Looked at the wolfking - dont like the layout too much (way too circular) - but that's a personal preference rather than a technical one!

the belkin gets good ratings everywhere too (as does the saitek) but I'm just not sure I want to spend ages programming the keys to find the best option- with the fang its just lock and load - apparently the default setups are very good.

but let me know if you flog the belkin - i might be interested if it's cheap enough! lol :D

reviews of the Saitek are good n bad - shame the actual plam rest isn't adjustable - the N52 is to a certain extent.

if I do sell the Belkin then it'll probs be for £15 delivered.
